Galungan & Kuningan Day

Make sure you are prepared for Galungan day. According to the Balinese calendar it will fall on March 27, 2013. The 10-day feasts ends with Kuningan day (April 6, 2013), a period of time during which it is believed that all the Balinese Gods will visit the earth. In order to welcome and appease the Gods, ancestral temples are cleaned, special prayers and offerings are made and dances are presented. It is also believed that the ancestors of the family descend to their homes at this time, congregating in the family temple. Those whose ancestors have not yet been cremated must go to the graveyards and place their offerings there.
